GOD is SPIRIT, Part 2
*******
As mentioned before, Wisdom in the Old Testament was discussed as feminine, even as a feminine personification. And Wisdom (sometimes also called by the name Sophia, derived from the Greek word for Wisdom) was associated with Spirit, often also considered to be feminine.[i] Thus Spirit, based upon both ancient and modern usage, has to be both feminine and masculine.
Today, with plenty of exceptions of course with both genders, generally women are considered more spiritually minded and pure than men. But back when the reasoning was of women’s inferiority they were thought to be materially minded. Men were spiritually-minded, pure, courageous—the hues of Spirit found in Spirit’s image and likeness. Women were unfit for sacred office. They needed to stay home and repent while doing domestic chores. (Working at home is certainly not considered as less-valued work but that was part of the limiting thought at the time.) Cannot both men and women labor in the harvest fields of infinite Spirit, reaping the qualities of Spirit?
