Bible Prophecies: 52

THE TIME OF THE END QUESTIONS, Part III

*******

Question: Why might some have rewritten the history concerning the reason the Phocas column was erected in the ruins of the Roman Forum in A.D. 608?

*******

Answer: As explained in detail in Chapter XII of this book, the Emperor Phocas made a decree in A.D. 606 to make Boniface III Head of the Church, and shipped an ancient Greek column to Rome to symbolize the then new civic authority he had granted to the Roman See.

Building on the ideas of Wyclif and Hus, Martin Luther was the first to recognize 606 as the date, for both Daniel and Revelation, to which to add the 1260 years to find the year for both

******* when the Stone cut out of the mountain without hands was to fall, and

******* when the Second Advent was to start.

The results are that his discovery not only outlined the 30-year period in which six of the seven prophecies of the Second Coming were to conclude but also the dates of four of those six. His understanding also gave Christians the year to expect the seventh, with the blessing.

Have some ecclesiastical authors tried to rewrite history?

Yes, and much is in this book.  There is more, but that would be another whole book. Any rewriting of history to alter the understanding of Daniel’s prophecies is atrocious. It misleads the innocent. Perhaps Christians need to become better students of history so that they can separate the counterfeit from the actual; else they may be led astray.
