Bible Prophecies: 32

DANIEL’S PROPHECY OF THE SANCTUARY,

PART I (Daniel 8)

*******

Before introducing the sanctuary, it is necessary to remind readers that these blogs began in March, 2021 with Chapter I and have been progressing through the book chapter by chapter. So now, three years later we have arrived at just beyond the halfway point to Chapter XI of twenty chapters.

The main, new point of Daniel’s Chapter 8 is his prophecy of the sanctuary during the period of the Second Coming of righteousness or purity (Old Testament language for what Christians refer to as the Christ). In the middle of his prophecy of the second and third of the four world empires, Daniel presented his prophecy of the sanctuary for the latter days.

As one moves on through the rest of Daniel, this “appearance of a man” … with his hands raised to the Father Everlasting, apparently is the prophecy of Jesus Christ.

The vision finishes with what he had seen in the vision – all the evil to come before the time of the end days and the long wait before the final sanctuary was going to be rebuilt.

The sanctuary will come forth like the Ulai River, whose waters mean “pure waters,” purity or righteousness’ being the Old Testament idea of the Christ.

Details pertaining to the sanctuary continue in Chapter 12 (Daniel 9).  Verses 20 through 27 present his prophecy of the Messiah at the First Advent, giving the year he was to begin his ministry.
