Bible Prophecies: 10

In the fifth chapter of Daniel, there is the forced transition from the head of gold to the chest and arms of silver.  This chapter is important on several fronts: subtle reminders of the four world empires of human temporal power; the inability of magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers to interpret messages from the eternal Mind of the universe; the inability of another Babylonian king to avoid succumbing to evil because of false pride; Daniel’s being called on again to interpret God’s message, this time from a hand partially seen as it writes the message on the palace’s wall; the close of the Babylonian empire and rise of that of the Medes and Persians. The head of gold is now gone and the chest and arms of silver take over the world’s temporal power.
