Beyond the Dam: 6

Beyond the Dam – The second of the four sonnets

*******

Here we have another version of a Beyond the Dam sonnet … when he got carried away with his rhyming dictionary.

*******

Penobscot Perversed

*******

The sonnet with this title first

Was like the river, poorly versed.

The water ran with foam – the worst –

With pulp and water interspersed.

.

The deer and bear once came athirst

But left, their stomachs far the worst.

And thus before the dam had nursed

The waiting waters quite perverse.

.

The cardboard channel choked accurst.

I wonder how the courts then durst

To let the river go amerced

But over the dam the stream dispersed.

.

So if the reader’s patience has burst,

Please turn the page thus better versed.
