A Growing Son
My son enjoys his newly found endowments:
He throws his father now in wrestling matches,
Outruns the graying beard, outhits his dad,
And usually outsmarts him by the end
of cards’ most challenging engagement – “Fish.”
What else would you expect from a four-year-old?

Precious baby boy
plays T-ball, hikes the mountains,
and beats me at chess.

Flora Danica
The flower of the morning star took nine
Lunations* budding time, and once she budded
Another two before she opened cheeks
To smile with the softness of the air she freshened.
.
*Lunations = the period of time from one new moon to the next (about 29½ days); a lunar month.
Our daughter’s name “Danica” means “morning star” and we chose it because of this:
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Revelation 22:16
