Personal Reflections

Youthful Ventures

Her draped, dark profile mimicked the Matterhorn,

As my wife gazed into its strength and power,

The sky, the beauty, slowly dimming till morn.

We woke to reddish glow on yonder tower.

.

Next year, the Jackson Hole’s sharp Teton peaks

Would shred Wyoming’s sky with strips of clouds.

After we shared a meal to Grizzlies’ critiques,

They rolled our cooler like soccer before the crowds.

.

But one near-snowless winter on coastal Maine,

We drove atop the summit of Cadillac.

Trees locked with ice-bound arms, in sunset’s reign,

How flashed thy rubies, snapped an eerie crack!

.

If Keats was right equating beauty and truth,

Then youthful ventures help us to better sleuth.

.

What an unforgettable experience in Zermatt, Switzerland, at the amazing

Matterhorn with Lynn in her plaid Scottish cape.
