Influence of Daniel on Revelation, Part II

Two Witnesses 1260 Years Prophesy Introduced

*******

The next question is how could two witnesses or prophets prophesy in sackcloth for 1260 years?

In Daniel 12, one witness stood on one shoreline of the River Hiddekel (the Word of God) and the other witness on the opposite shore. The symbolic personalization of absolute Purity (or the impersonal Christ) was standing on the waters of the river. One of the witnesses asked the impersonal Christ for the time of the Second Advent. The implication here in Daniel was that the two witnesses are humans because in Revelation 11:10, John called them prophets. Apparently, these messengers were witnessing the Christ’s prophecy of the Second Coming. Therefore, in Revelation 11, the two in sackcloth must be representations of the spiritual identities of the two messengers.

Thus, since Daniel prophesied two humans witnessing the Christ and John pulled together their spiritual identities as prophesying during Daniel’s second 1260 years, then John was writing emblematically just as Daniel was.

These two witnesses, though two humans separated by time outside the emblematical prophecy, appeared to be extra-special beings, reflecting or manifesting to the highest degree possible, while in a human state, that Purity, that Righteousness standing on Hiddekel.
