PAUL’S TEACHINGS ABOUT WOMEN, Epilogue, Part 5
*******
If we are to accept the masculine and feminine nature of God as discussed in Chapters 2, 3, and 5, then the degree to which a society or culture grasps the nature of Deity can be measured in part by the degree to which that society or culture recognizes the equality of men and women and of the masculine and feminine qualities. These qualities vary but essentially are the same. Can it be that they all are essential in the completeness of humanity, of spiritual existence, and of God?
To think that the past does not influence the present is to live in the Adamic mist with its confusing consequences. Collect all the ancient superstitions and fears pertaining to blood and the woman’s menstruation, all the Aristotelian notions, prejudices, and arrogance about women and the influences of those on Christianity, all the general arrogance based upon the apparent psychological need to believe some others inferior, in this case women, so as to promote one’s own self-esteem. Then stuff all these fascinations and falsehoods into a coffin and “nail” it shut with solidified, thus reinforced tampons.
Next, bury it with an opening-curse, all incased in a fifty-foot cube made of steel-reinforced cement. Drop the block into a hole at least fifty-six feet deep.
Let the eulogy with joyous tears begin!
Dust to dust.
Have the tombstone read:
Here lies
Nothingness
Ancient time – Now
May he rest in oblivion.
As the dirt covers over the last remains, let the spiritual officiary read the words of Elohim: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. … And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Gen. 1: 27, 31).
